Andrea Mitchell
Andrea Mitchell works as a journalist at NBC News based out of Washington D.C. Mitchell has a BA degree in English from University of Pennsylvania. In 1967 Mitchell became a reporter for KYW Radio and TV in Philadelphia. 1996, she joined WDVM-TV Washington DC, a CBS-affiliated station (then WTOP). Two years later she became a general reporter for NBC News in Washington. She began covering the White House in 1981 and was appointed chief congressional correspondent by 1988. She was named the Chief White House Correspondent and in 1994 was appointed chief foreign affairs reporter for NBC News. Mitchell has appeared as a guest on TV news program Meet the Press as a panelist and host. She was a member of a panel for the 1988 debates between George Bush (then president) as well as Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is married Alan Greenspan a former chairman the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell was awarded in 2005 the Goldsmith Career Award in Journalism in the John F. Kennedy School of Government. And in 2004 the Radio-Television News Directors Association, (RTNDA) was honoured Mitchell for her role in the defense of First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell began covering in the White House for NBC News from 1981 to 1988, during both Ronald Reagan's terms as President. She has covered several notable stories over the years, such as the tax reforms, budget reforms as well as the Iran Contra affair. She traveled frequently with Reagan as well as Mikhail Gorbachev to world summits.
